Chapter 12. Women and Swimming

AS DISCUSSED IN previous chapters, swimming provides bountiful and life-enhancing benefits. It makes you stronger, healthier, more energetic, and more productive; it reduces stress, keeps your body fit and youthful, and improves your mental functioning; it can help you quit smoking; it provides protection against heart disease, diabetes, possibly some forms of cancer, arthritis, asthma, and a host of other debilitating diseases; it makes you more confident, attractive and sexy; in sum, it can extend your life and improve its quality.
All these benefits accrue equally to men and women, to young and old. But swimming offers some additional benefits for women only.
